Polish poker vixen Masterka7x won the day Tuesday at PokerRoom.com's Poker Race Trophy semifinals, locking in her spot in the tournament’s grand finals in Vienna.Masterka7x is the first female player to make the Poker Race finals cut and did so by beating back six boys and one other girl, including G.Mendez, Ragnash, ..Mr77.., Stamford05, doubleclubs, illusionista and DK_Donkey.
Early on, play was slow, with most players conserving their chips and holding out for quality hands. Things finally began to pick up as the blinds increased, and DK_Donkey and G.Mendez pulled ahead to become the short-game chip leaders. When Masterka7x pulled a pair of kings, though, she parleyed her loaded pocket into a big win over G.Mendez that transferred the center of gravity to her end of the table.
The final play saw G.Mendez going all-in on pocket twos before the flop in a last-ditch effort to regain the lead. After a moment’s consideration, Masterka7x followed him in with an A, 7. The flop and turn were both in G.Mendez’s favor with nothing showing for Masterka7x until a second seven came on the River.
The tourney, which took place in Monza, Italy, was the sixth and last semifinal. Eight PokerRoom.com qualifiers had played their way into the match, and the company spared no expense, pampering the players with stretch limos, fine cuisine and all-expenses-paid nights on the town.
No doubt, Masterka7x can expect similar treatment when the Vienna finals kick off on November 29. The next event will feature a $500,000 prize pool with an assured $10,000 for the last-place finisher.
